I don't know what to say, aside from the fact that I just can't believe it. My friend Sarah has just lost her husband, a dear man of God. There aren't any words to describe what a loss this is. Shannon was a sincere, genuine, loving, Godly, friendly man. Every time I saw him, he had such a gentle embrace and a smile. His words were always encouraging, and he will be missed very much, even though we know that he is now at home.

I know this sounds silly, but there is a song on the Muppets take Manhattan movie called "Saying goodbye" and it has always made me tear up when I hear it, and as I was thinking about Shannon & Sarah this morning, it came to my mind. Here are the lyrics...

"Saying goodbye, going away
Seems like goodbye's such a hard thing to say
Touching our hands, wondering why
It's time for saying goodbye.

Saying goodbye, why is it sad?
Makes us remember the good times we've had
Much more to say, foolish to try
It's time for saying goodbye.

Don't want to leave, but we both know
Sometimes its better to go
Somehow I know, we'll meet again
Not sure quite where and I don't know just when

You're in my heart, so until then
It's time for saying goodbye."

So Shannon, we will never forget you, and your encouraging words we will always remember. "You're in our hearts, so until then, Shannon, it's time for saying goodbye"

Shannon was indeed a gentle soul who always freely gave affection to those he encountered. It is so hard to say goodbye to those we love. It is so hard to try to hold onto them in our hearts when we would much rather hold onto them with our arms. Let's hold onto those we still have.
Love always,
