WWWAT

To be honest, when I heard the theme for this week's WWWAT was "beginnings and endings" I had no clue what I was going to do. And then after reading Rachel's post, where she bent the rules, I figured I could bend the rules just this one time.
None of these pictures are mine, and in fact I've never even met any of them IRL, but after reading a Tori's post today, I felt like this was an important topic, with it being an election year and all. After you look at mine, go on over to Rachel's page and check out all the other enteries, and while you're at it, go ahead and JOIN IN!!

So without further ado, I submit my WWWAT post...
Women getting arrested for protesting outside of the white house in 1917
Helena Weed inside her prison sell, serving a 60 day sentence for "obstructing the sidewalk" while picketing the White House
Lucy Burns in her prison garb had her hands chained to her bars above her head and left gasping for air all night long.Vida Miller behind bars for petitioning for her right to vote
A woman is escorted from prison after her release

Regardless of your political view, you must say we've come quite a long ways in a little less than 90 years. Thanks to all of the women who were beaten, imprisoned, tortured, and God knows what else for our right to vote. Let's honor these women by voting this coming November, either way...JUST VOTE!
And remember "Courage in women is often mistaken for insanity"
Thanks to Tori, at My Life...Just pretend you're interested! for bringing this to my attention. To learn more about the women's rights movement, and the Night of Terror in 1917, please visit the following sites:

Thank you so much for sharing that...funny that you don't tend to learn these things in High School history class isn't it?
When I saw the first picture I thought "Wow, that's an arrest? It looks so peaceful", then I read the rest of your post and discovered how misleading a photograph can be.
